A visiting friend and I decided to take on a simple New York challenge: walk 30,000+ steps in one go, across two boroughs—Manhattan and Brooklyn. He also had a list of his own must-see spots around the city, so we set off to see how many we could fit into one very long afternoon and evening.
From neighborhood streets and iconic landmarks to food, little discoveries, and plenty of miles in between, the day turned into a pretty good workout disguised as sightseeing. And with my phone dying toward the end of the walk, the 30,000+ steps we recorded were definitely a minimum.
There's something satisfying about seeing New York this way. You don't just visit the places you came to see—you experience the streets between them, stumble across things you weren't looking for, and get a much bigger sense of the city along the way
By the end, we'd walked more than 30,000 steps, crossed two boroughs, checked off a good number of those must-see spots, and probably earned a proper rest. (APJ)
