Why GruffDraft™?
Our new brand name in a nutshell
T ruth be told, The Rough Draft was already taken, even the one without the article. Either name would have made our modus operandi clearcut and direct-to-the point: initial or early version(s) of original written material, which would benefit over time from subsequent editing, rewriting, or revalidation — as all living documents should — for whatever purpose those revisions serve, ultimately so that we can continuously put out content that can only be described as up-to-date and accurate.

After considering all other options, we came up with Gruff Draft, which didn't sound quite right to us initially. However, on second thought, gruff has an irreverent, brooding, in-your-face, no-holds-barred, diamond-in-the-rough appeal to it — not to mention that it sounds close enough to our original preference.
We then checked on the domains registry as quickly as we could, and found that the new name was still available and ready for the taking — so take it we did.  2

So really, why GruffDraft™?
G RUFF, not "rough and low in pitch," more "abrupt or taciturn in manner," but more so "no-nonsense..."
DRAFT, because nothing here is absolute; the writer, writing, and written form can

How things work on our website
W e're almost sure you've already figured this out on your own, but for transparency's sake, here's the deal. Like most not-for-profit sites, we rely on ad revenue to keep things running, but we don't want to clutter our pages with so many ads that our content gets lost in the frenzy. With less of usual ad formats, we use pre-selected visual cues that, when clicked, open a separate page detailing the advertised product or service.

You see an image of a mirrorless digital camera or a cool pair of sneakers, for example, and expect to see where and how you can buy it after clicking the image. They're all still ad snippets, just not the invasive kind. (Try clicking on any image below to see how it works.) OUR STORY IN A NUTSHELL
Gruff Draft™ is an online presence 20 long years in the making, but launched only in August 2018.
With roots in Singapore,  honing in South Cotabato, miscarriage in Texas,  a couple of incarnations in pulp (namely, Gensan Gazer and GGQ) in General Santos City, and finally a rethinking, and eventual rebirth in grand and glorious New York City. 
Let's get it straight: we're not a bulletin, not a breaking news channel, not a blog (though we have one). We're a paperless magazine, and we're free.
