e are an online presence 20 years in the making, although officially launched only in August 2018. Our journey is as global and unconventional as our stories: roots in Singapore, a honing period in South Cotabato, Philippines, a brief "miscarriage" in Texas, and a couple of pulp incarnations in General Santos City, Philippines—first as GENSAN GAZER (2010-2012), a monthly magazine, then GGQ (2013-2014), a quarterly. Finally, after much rethinking and reinvention, we were reborn in the blogosphere of grand and glorious New York City as GruffDraft.
Why GruffDraft? Rough Draft was already taken, but the idea stuck: original writing that evolves over time through reimagining and revalidation, as all living documents should. The goal is simple—to publish content that stays current, accurate, and worth reading. Gruff Draft didn't click immediately, but it grew on us. Gruff has a rough-edged, no-nonsense, diamond-in-the-rough feel—close to our original idea, with more bite. The domain was available, so we took it.
ur mission? To explore art, culture, lifestyle, travel, technology, and gastronomy—not just reporting what's happening, but understanding why it matters. We aim for smart, not smug; curious, not pretentious; and always evolving.
Our four main verticals:

We don't chase trends solely for clicks (and we definitely won't turn them away). Instead, we aim to tell stories that resonate, spark curiosity, and inspire engagement.
